Research Fellowships and Scholarships

Curtin Business School (CBS) recognises research and development as one of its core business activities and is committed to fostering an environment supportive of research endeavour. There are a number of fellowships and scholarship available to encourage and support excellence in research activities. Some of these programs are available to CBS staff only. Further details on these can be found in StartingPoint (staff access only).

Other programs are available to non Curtin researchers (some by invitation only). Details are given below:

 Research Fellowships

The research fellowship scheme aims to attract high quality post doctoral researchers with excellent potential for providing future academic and research leadership at the University.  It is highly competitive and continues to be amongst the most prestigious Fellowship schemes in Australia.  Curtin University of Technology will offer up to thirteen Research Fellowships commencing in 2010.

 Fellowships are for a period of 4 years, with the possibility of renewal. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to make significant contributions to the following targeted areas of research activity:

 

Applications: Successful applicants will be appointed as a staff member within the Enrolling Area sponsoring the Fellowship application.
It is therefore critical that the potential Fellow liaise directly with the appropriate Head of Enrolling Area prior to submitting an application to ensure that the proposed project and activities align with the Area's Strategic Plan. Applications without the signature of the appropriate Head of Enrolling Area to confirm support will not be considered.

The Fellowships are not restricted to Australian citizens. Applicants must have completed a research doctoral degree.

HDR Scholarships

CBS will provide six Higher Degree by Research scholarships annually by invitation and not by application. These will be awarded to 3 international students through the IPRS and  CIPRS and 3 domestic students through the CUPS and APA schemes. Students applying for either an IPRS or an APA will automatically be considered and do not need to submit a separate application for a CBS Scholarship.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)

The IPRS provides:

All successful IPRS applicants will also receive a Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarship (CUPS) which provides a living allowance of approximately $20,427 (2009 value) per annum.

Curtin International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (CIPRS)

The CIPRS provides:

 

Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarships (CUPS)

CUPS are awarded to students of exceptional research potential undertaking a higher degree by research (HDR) in 2010. The Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarship (CUPS) enable study for a period of two years for a Master by Research and three years, with a possible extension of up to six months, for a Doctoral degree.

The CUPS provides:

Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) Scholarships

APA Scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional research potential undertaking a higher degree by research (HDR) at Curtin in 2010.

The APA provides:

In addition, all successful applicants of the APA will receive a Curtin Research Scholarships (CRS) bringing the total scholarship package to $30,000 pa tax free.
The Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) enable study for a period of two years for a Master by Research and three years, with a possible extension of up to six months, for a Doctoral degree.
