Prof. Jacques Percebois

Professor Jacques Percebois is the Director of CREDEN (Centre for Energy Economics) at the University of Montpellier. In June 2007, Professor Percebois was given an award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession by the International Association for Energy Economics.
For approximately two and half weeks in April, Jacques will be working working with members of the OGM including Professor Owen, Dr. Hiroaki Suenaga and Ms Noelle Leonard examining the role of spot markets in gas and electricity and conparing French and Australian experiences in electricity and gas pricing regulation. It is planned that Jacques will conduct several seminars in Perth, both at Curtin Business School, as well as a presentation to our industry contacts in the CBD of Perth.

Ms. Chassty Manuhutu

Chassty is studying for a MSc in Natural Gas Management at the University of Indonesia (Depok). Chassty has been awarded a DEST Endeavour Research Fellowship wich provides a stipend and living expenses to spend 6 months in 2008 conducting research with the OGM which aligns her thesis. While here, she will be working on an existing Curtin Linkage Grant project carried out in conjuction with the WA Department of Industry Resources. The aim of the research is to analyse the future price impacts of the domestic gas reservation policy in WA. A similar policy for oil has already been applied in Indonesia and one for the natural gas will be enforced soon. Chassty has won the following prizes:

- ExxonMobil Indonesia Young Future Leaders Scholarship (2003 - 2004)
- 1st Prize , essay contest PERTAMINA (2004)

Professor Wolfram Elsner

Professor Elsner is an expert on governance issues, and will bring a wealth of enthusiasm, publication experience and knowledge to our research. Specifically, Professor Elsner will be working on two articles, (1) Governance (including corporate governance) as well as the related issue (2) Markets and States, for an edited book, the International Encyclopedia of Public Policy: Governance in a Global Age (4 vols, 1.6m words; 270 articles; average 6000 words each), which is in an intermediate-advanced stage of development (Editor-in-chief [EIC]: Professor Phil O’Hara).
Professor Elsner is also an Associate Editor and member of the editorial board for the encyclopedia. His editorial work will involve refereeing/providing final reviews for 8-15 articles, and contributing to the completion of the encyclopedia, in association with the EIC. Professor Elsner will also be helping Professor Phil O’Hara with other editorial and organisational activities for the encyclopedia in its final phase.
Professors Elsner and O’Hara will also discuss / plan editorial matters for journals they are on the editorial boards together - Journal of Economic Issues, Review of Social Economy, and Intervention Journal of Economics. Professor Elsner will also discuss social capital with a PhD student, Agus Nugroho, who is writing on “micro credit and social capital”; and will also possibly present a School seminar. He is also likely to discuss research, possibly collaboratively, on the political economy of institutions, terrorism and warfare.
