Consultancy Services & Projects

The students and staff in the School of Information Systems are involved in several projects and consultancies:

Project 1

Student: Ms Nau Zaung
Project: Project analysis, design and development of a home builder’s costing system.

Details: Nau developed this system in the programming tool called Delphi. It was a database system that stored details about costs for every item that a builder uses in constructing a home. A new set of records is created for each new client, and various cost scenarios can be explored by specifying different types and quantities of building materials. The system has full backup and recovery modules to ensure secure operation of the system.
Nau went on to obtain a place on the Vice Chancellor’s List.

Project 2

Students: Jeremy Camplin, Adam Fielding, Christopher Mills and Trevor Storey.
Project: Project analysis, design and development of a web-based booking system for a domestic services provider.
Details: The team developed an online booking system where householders could book services over the web such as lawnmowing, gardening, dogwashing, window cleaning, and flower delivery.
The team went on to win the School of Information Systems prize for the best project in 2005.

Consultancy

Staff Member: Robert Williams
Project: Project software development for the Curtin Kalgoorlie campus student records system.
Details: From 2002 to 2005 Robert managed the software enhancements for the student records system at the Kalgoorlie campus on a contract basis. In early 2005 he helped migrate the system data to the state wide TAFE system that is now used by the campus, and decommissioned the previous system.
