The LDP is an Australian Government initiative to promote leadership in the region and address the challenges of development, globalisation and governance.

Janet Sutherland, Curtin’s Leadership Development Program Manager said that this contract is a significant recognition of GSB’s innovation and excellence in leadership education in a global environment.

"We are the only university in the country to have an accredited Masters program in leadership and management and this contract recognises us as a leading provider of education internationally and particularly in the Asia-Pacific region,” Ms Sutherland said.

"The GSB is very passionate about the subject of leadership and we are very pleased to be working with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) to deliver this prestigious program."

"This opportunity also allows us to build on our internal capacity to deliver large and complex programs, and enhance staff knowledge, skills and experiences as teachers in an international context.”

The Program consists of a two-and-a-half day Leadership Development Conference held in Canberra, a three day residential workshop and two optional modules.

The LDP will produce a cohort of skilled leaders who will have an increased knowledge and understanding of contemporary leadership challenges at national, regional and global levels.

Professor Rob Evans, Director of the GSB, said that the School will have the privilege of working with AusAID and emerging leaders from across the region and this will help to continuously improve the LDP and other GSB programs.

"We are looking forward to working with these talented scholars and hearing about their international experiences,” Professor Evans said.

The GSB is working in partnership with Teamworks Development Australia and the Australian Experiential Learning Centre to deliver the experiential learning elements of the program.

The Australian Leadership Award is a prestigious scholarship presented to approximately 150 scholars each year from the Asia-Pacific region. These scholars study at any one of the 29 approved universities across Australia.
